Consider how heavy it is
You might not think of a hair dryer as a heavy item, but some of the newer ones are fairly heavy and if you are holding it for any length of time it can be difficult. Many people who blow dry their hair may literally be using it for half an hour or more. Even if you are using it for less time, your arm can still get tired. Feel how heavy they are and try to extrapolate how that will feel. If you are very sensitive to that, you might want to consider a lighter one.
Look at the hot-cold and speed settings
Most of the hair dryers will give you options as far as how heavy they blow as well as cold to heat settings. Some of them will give you more options than others. For instance, one hair dryer might only give you two hot/cold settings while others may give you three settings. Some may give you more options than others as far as how strong they blow. Think about what you need for styling your hair.
Price
You will find a lot of differences in price of the machines. The ones that cost more often have more features. However, before you spend twice as much or even more on a machine, make sure that the features are worth the money. Sometimes it really might not make a difference for you, while other times the features can give you more useful options or cut down on drying time.
Look at how powerful it is
Some hair dryers are more powerful than others. If you have a lot of hair to blow dry and it already takes you a long time, then it might be worth it to get one that is more powerful. If you really do not need the power that much and use it infrequently then you might not need one that is as powerful. Think about your needs.
Look at brand names and reviews
